Why wine? This sex god has a deep affiliation with Val de Vie. Apart from owning a property within the stunning estate, he also launched the Ryk Neethling Swimming School at the Val de Vie Leisure Centre in November 2009. Ryk fell in love with the exquisite open green spaces of Val de Vie amongst the vineyards, polo fields and lakes of the Estate and the history of the estate ignited Ryk’s passion for wine. The man is a big fan of Southern Rhone blends, which is Val de Vie’s trademark. He has always dreamt of blending his own wine and decided to partner up with Val de Vie’s winemaker Harold Versfeld and fulfill a lifelong ambition and make his own blend.
The blend consists of 55% Syrah, 18% Carignan, 15% Mourvedre, 7% Grenache and 5% Cinsaut. It’s a sexy and elegant wine filled with finesse and body. The velvety taste is extremely addictive and one can’t help but crave more. It’s good! It’s really, really good and as tasty as the man responsible for it!
You can get your hands on a bottle if you hurry, because there’s only 240 cases x 12 available. The wine is selling for only R90 a bottle (BARGAIN!) and available at the Val de Vie cellar door.
Next week we will be featuring an up-close and personal interview with Ryk Neethling, so watch this space!
