Chattering Classes Raise Their Glasses
Red and Black was the theme of the night and guests went all out to impress. The Alto Red & Black Lounge Party – in association with City Press and Gagasi 99.5FM – was an elegant and stylish affair, writes Babalwa Shota. Durban’s finest enjoyed being treated to a variety of Alto’s red wines paired with mouthwatering dishes from the Oyster Box Hotel. Lamb, chicken, game and bitter chocolate were just some of the courses served with Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and port from South Africa’s oldest red wine producer.
Some of KwaZulu-Natal’s movers and shakers who enjoyed the evening included Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife Resort’s chief executive officer Dr Bandile Mkhize and his partner, Busi, whose gorgeous jewellery set elicited more than a few envious stares. We bumped into Oyster Box sommelier, Thato Goimane, whose move to the coast has left customers of the exclusive Joburg French eatery, Auberge Michel, in dire need of a new wine expert.
