How to prepare a cheese board
It’s hard to believe, but Christmas party season will soon be here. When I’m entertaining, one item I always like to serve is a local cheese board. Here are some tips on making and serving it.
What to buy
For variety and interest, choose at least five types of cheese that offer contrasting flavours, colours and textures, such as creamy goat, semi-soft brie, tangy blue and firmer cheeses.
How much to buy
If the cheese board is one of several appetizers served, I usually allow 60 to 90 grams of each cheese per person. If the cheese will be the only item served, or will be served as a post-dinner course, I allow a more generous 120 grams of each cheese per person. If that sounds like too much, you won’t mind having leftovers. If you think it’s too little, buy more.
