Why Paul Cluver’s Amphitheatre Rocks

Why Paul Cluver’s Amphitheatre Rocks

I love going to live gigs and have attended many festivals and live shows over the years. Up the Creek, Synergy Live, Cold Play, Offspring, Live, REM, Counting Crows, you name it, I was there. I’m such a big freak, I even flew 12 000 kilometers this year to go and watch my favourite band in the whole world perform live in England.

I was therefor over the moon when I received an invite from Paul Cluver himself to join them for a show at their Forest Amphitheatre in Elgin. I’ve never been there before but those who have, always rave about the place, and rightfully so.

The small arena is set in an eucalyptus Forrest and the setting is cozy, intimate and full of charm. Performances are specifically chosen to match the natural acoustics of the venue and the towering trees works superbly with the stage lighting. My guess is you’ll struggle to find such a unique setting, dedicated to live music, anywhere else in South Africa. It’s one of those once in a lifetime experiences and although the tickets don’t come cheap it’s well worth it.

Prime Circle was the first band to perform there this summer and the 600 people who were fortunate enough to get tickets experience one super show. Check out some of the photos and the video that Dax Villanueva took during the show.

For more information about the upcoming shows visit the Paul Cluver website and be sure to book your tickets as soon as possible, as they tend to sell out fast.
