Animal Wine Labels – South Africa vs the Others
Putting an animal or their name on a bottle of wine will more than double its sales in the United States, according to recent marketing studies. But why would an animal, that usually have nothing to do with wine, help sell wine?
Research has show that consumers have an easier time with an image if they are already primed about that image. For example, if a person already likes dogs, then a picture of a dog on a wine label may appeal to that consumer, even if the dog has nothing to do with wine.
In South Africa we have many wines with animal labels. The question is, how do we compare to the rest of the world? Lets take a look:
