The Queen Mary 2 is one of the biggest cruise liners to dock in Cape Town. We take a look at what to expect when you wine and dine on this majestic ship.
Lavish dining is one of the centerpieces of the QM2 experience, with vastly expanded menus and venues. There are 10 restaurants, each with an extensive wine list, totaling over 343 different labels, of which +/- 230,000 bottles are sold annually to thirsty travelers. Over 7,000 bottles of champagne will be consumed during the Queen Mary 2’s inaugural events period.
Unlike most cruise liners you can actually bring your own champagne & wine on board. Expect to pay around $15 corkage if you plan to enjoy your own wine at a restaurants.
On the wine lists you will find the cheapest tipple at around $28, with sauvignon blanc starting at $36-$45. All all drinks are + 15% service charge. Cocktails will set you back at around $10 a glass, and a pint of beer at +/- $5
The Queen Mary 2 will serve 1.5 million drinks per year, not including wine sale.
